Research Associate, Preclinical Development

Job Description:
This position is responsible for the design and execution of preclinical experimental protocols evaluating lead product candidates, using appropriate in vitro and in vivo models. This position contributes to the advancement of preclinical programs through creativity, innovation and problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
• Perform in vivo experiments assessing behavior through prepulse inhibition, startle response, and photobeam activity
• Perform in vivo experiments assessing auditory function through Auditory Evoked Brainstem Response (ABR), Otoacoustic Emmisions (OAE), and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMPs)
• Assist in the preparation of samples for histologic assessment
• Perform immunohistochemical staining and analysis of samples
• Maintain scientific notebooks, perform data collection, analysis, and documentation of laboratory experiments
• Assist in creation and development of new methods and technologies; accurately reproduce and improve upon published protocols
• Contribute to scientific research through frequent review of relevant scientific literature.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
• Minimum 3 years laboratory experience in auditory physiology, neurophysiology, and/or behavioral assessment.
• Minimum 2 years experience working with in vivo models.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles and standard laboratory practices.
• Knowledge and experience in the correct handling of hazardous substances.
